I have not been able to find a downloadable version of Flash Player which I can
take to a computer that needs it (OneNote tutorial). The computer is *NOT*
on-line.

The computer--did I mention it is not on-line--is running XP Pro.

Tom,

Okay, what am I missing? I have been to the URL you posted many times. I don't
see any way of downloading Flash Player--the link I see ONLY *installs* the
player.

I am a single-computer, home user with Windows 98 on the internet. I need the
player for an off-line XP computer.

doug,
what are you trying to do? you can still be offline and drag/drop an swf into
an open browser window (with the player installed). are you just trying to view
flash content off -line?

How do you install flash player control onto a PC that is not online (so you
cannot download it to there). Is the a downloadable installer that you can
copy onto a floppy disk etc .. or do you need to be online to
download+install the control in one hit.

What am I trying to do? I think I've made it very clear what I am trying to do
in my first two posts.

Yes, I am "just trying to view flash content off-line", BUT THE PLAYER IS NOT
INSTALLED, and I cannot find any way to install it on a computer which is not
on-line.

How can I install the player?

I'm on a Mac, but I could download the file by right clicking and saving
linked file as... Maybe it is different for Windows?

If your friend doesn't have access to the internet how are they going to be
coming up against swf files? If you need to make files for your friend to see
and you will be sending them on disk or CD perhaps you could make projector
files? This way they would be able to see the files without needing the player.
Just a thought.

Rothrock,

I tried that link. It does not provide a way to save a download--it just saves
an htm file (right click) or takes me to the INSTALL page (left click).

The reason for needing the Flash Player is that we have OneNote (a Microsoft
XP program) which has a Flash tutorial on a CD. We want to learn how to use
OneNote by playing the OneNote Flash tutorial. It really should not be this
difficult!

I e-mailed customer support several days ago and so far they have ignored me.

How can I install the player on the off-line XP computer? Can anyone help me?
Please.

Doug1492;
I assumed that you were a flash developer (most here are), and that link
contains information on licensing the flash player offline distribution. I
had assumed that you were seeking to distribute and application require the
player (a link to the player files is provided after you apply).
I am not familiar with MS's "one note", but I think it very odd that
Microsoft would provide flash tutorials without providing a means for
viewing them--especially given Macromedia's free licensing for player
distribution on cd etc... Non-flash developers would not have access to a
"standalone player"--swf files are usually viewed in a browser or other
application. Are the tutorials you are attempting to view swf files, or are
they html files with embedded flash?

Tom,

"Non-flash developers would not have access to a "standalone player"--swf
files are usually viewed in a browser or other application."
I don't know much about Flash but I assume that what I need is indeed an addin
for IE6. What I installed on my Win98 computer is just what I want on the XP
computer.

"Are the tutorials you are attempting to view swf files, or are they html
files with embedded flash?"
Yes, the file is "ontour.swf".

[quoted text, click to view]

well it should not , you need to fill up format, apply for license and than you will be
send links to download page with OFF LINE installers .

[quoted text, click to view]

Once you install that player you need to open browser and file via the browser OPEN - FILE
dialogs .

There is no other way for offline view .
