flash (macromedia) : How to Wrap Text Around a Circle?

Seems to me you could do it by putting every letter in a seperate MC and
then using the _rotation to set the angle. Sounds like too much work to me
tho. LOL

That would be the way to do it. Of course, you don't have to convert
those letters to a movie clip. Type your text, then do Modify > Break
Apart, then Modify > Timeline > Distribute to Layers. From there, you'll
have each letter on its own layer (which isn't strictly necessary, unless
you want to animate these), and you can rotate, then position each
individually.

You can also use ActionScript, but you'll have to know some fancy trig
programming.

Here's a treat, though. Head over to http://www.flashextensibility.com/
and click on "The Files," then "Download Commands," then choose "Circle
Text." This is a tool written in JSFL, a language designed for use in
Extending Flash (it doesn't run in a SWF the way ActionScript does). The
Circle Text tool handles the first approach and does all the grunt work for
you.

It is, but Macromedia is so confident, they're very cool about this sort
of thing.

Freehand, too. But remember, the Macromedia products will be part of
the Adobe line anyway, soon.

Fair enough, but I stand behind urami's mention of it. Illustrator, in
particular, is a very widely used product -- more so than Freehand. She's
just stating it how it is.

Could anyone suggest how i might wrap or write text around the edge of a circle?
Any instructions on how to do this would help, including links to newbie Flash
website or what have you.

Thanks

If you mean during authoring than manually one by one, or using Illustrator or CorelDraw
and their Align to Path option than import it as image to flash.
Flash itself has no such ability.
