I have the Dummies guide. I also borrowed the "Learn in 24 hours" one
(SAM publishing, I think) - I have also got the Actionscript one ... I
can do the basics, even though I am still learning Flash (it's a case
of having to so I can do what I need to!). My favourite tutorials are
at learnflash.com These come as video tutorials (which I burn to dvd
via Toast). Some are very expensive ($130 for the Introduction to Flash
MX Video Tutorials digital download); other options include 60 days of
support via email (with the added cost, of course)
I have the Actionscript series and the cartooning one. Both very watchable.

Finally, don't forget the tutorials built in to Flash - find them via "Help".

I am still a newbie, so there are probably other options available.
These are just my ideas

Since I by far prefer visual training versus books...try here...Lynda.com...

Good luck...
