Flashs differs from Word by a constant factor of ¾. (100 in Flash looks
the same size as 75 in Word.) I think because we base our measurements
on a 72dpi measure and most other apps use 96dpi.

I've read a couple of excellent k/b articles about the anti-aliasing effects of
various Flash text object settings and gotten some very useful insights for
further experimentation on my part. But nothing directly on point to my
specific question, as follows:

In Flash MX 2004, using a static text box ("Use device font" box not checked),
why does Arial 10 pt., when published and played back in Windows Explorer 6.0
(or Flash Player 6.0 - 8.0 for that matter), appear to be smaller than expected
to be (more like 7 or 8 pt) than text entered in the web development IDE (in
this case, Net Objects Fusion). In the latter s/w, Arial 10pt appears to be
just about Arial 10pt as it would appear in MS Word and other apps.

Looking forward to hearing from anyone with more smarts than I have...

Thanks,

P.S. I'm new to Flash. What is the difference between a "text object" or "text
block" (created using the text tool) and a "text field" mentioned in the k/b
articles cited above?
