I assume you are trying to install the flash player rather than the
flash 8 authoring application? If so, most common installation issues are
covered at Macromedia's flash player support area:

i've been staring at the instalation screen for flash for about twenty minutes
and nothing's happened yet... is there a manual download or something i can use
instead? because i don't think this way is going to work for me :(
