I have an eagle made out of vector graphics. I want the eagle to fly. So what I would like to do would be to flap the wings of the eagle a few times, and then have it soar for a second or two, and then go back to flaping its wings, ect. The problem I'm haveing is getting the wings to remain on the main section of the body. When I rotate the wings from a up position, to a down position, the part attaching the wings to main body disconnects. Can anyone help me out with this animation? Thanks, Nofx1728
i tried that link and got this: Sorry. Access denied. You can find my .fla file at this link. I just threw the animation together in a few seconds, just to show you that I'm having trouble getting the wings to rotate at the right angles, and appear right. If you watch the animation you really can't notice the wings moving, but if you look at the seperate MC you can see the trouble I'm having. This doesn't have to be the eagle I use, I just want to use some type of eagle to create this animation. I really don't know how to get this to look correct, very interested in finding out though. Please help me!!! http://home.bellsouth.net/p/s/community.dll?ep=16&ext=1&groupid=286119&ck= Thanks, Nofx1728
There are a couple of issues you're running into here. #1 is you're trying to do a perspective style animation with very flat, 2D pieces. That's not to say that it can't be done, but there's a limit to how good it will turn out using this method. Aside from that, I think the main (#2) thing is you need to change the pivot points on the wings before animating the flapping. The pivots should be where the wings attach to the body. One other thing you're going to hvae to do is hide your wing layers, then go back in and fill out the eagle's body in the areas where you've cut the wings off. This way, you wn't see those straight, unrealistic edges when you start rotating the wings. Hope this helps. i am looking at your eagle now and you have the fla movie set for 6fps? that is so choppy that any fluid motion for the wings is not going to look right no matter what. Think about 24fps give or take. that way there is enough frames to actuall move the wings up and down. this is not a simple little animation depending on how you want it to look - you have taken a bitmap of a photo of a real eagle and traced bitmapped it - so you have a very realistic eagle that dictates a very realistic motion - just tweening 1 wind symbol up anbd down is going to look primitive no matter what - uless this is o with you. if so, increase your frame rate and continue what you are doing by motion tweening the wing up and down. tip: edit the center point of the instance of the wing so it hinges at the body. here's what you had: http://www.mudbubble.com/downloads/eagle.html here's what i did at 24fps and with onky the assets you had in your movie: http://www.mudbubble.com/downloads/eagle_cg.html here's my version of you FLA: http://www.mudbubble.com/downloads/eagle_cg.zip hope this help. ****************************************** --> Team Macromedia --> www.mudbubble.com --> www.keyframer.com [quoted text, click to view] nofx1728 wrote: > Can someone please help me with my problem? Can someone please help me with my problem? I think it wouldn't be so difficult if there was a way to skew backwards instead of side to side. It seems like the eagles wing should just be pussed straight down from the tip of the wing, but I have no clue how to get it to move that way. Still learning flash, but I would really like to make simple animations like these in the future. Thanks, nofx1728
glad i could help - here's how the boy was made: http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/flash/articles/design_character.html http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/flash/articles/animate_character.html ****************************************** --> Team Macromedia --> www.mudbubble.com --> www.keyframer.com [quoted text, click to view] nofx1728 wrote: > Your the man Chris. Your the man Chris. The file was originally set at 30fps but the wings were moving so little you could barely see the movement, so I just slowed it down for the .fla so you could see what I meant. I don't know how you make your animations look so good, but you do an awesome job. I checked out your site, I have no clue how you made that character with just the circle and rectangle tools, your resume is impressive also. You are very skilled. Thanks for your help with this, I will be able to use this information to help make me a much better flash user. Thanks, Nofx1728
Chris, I watched your video on the boy animation, it was great. I think I really picked up some good tips. I have another question that I was hoping you or someone else could help me out with, with this eagle animation. I made some changes to the file http://www.geocities.com/nofx1727/. I'm having two problems. One, I can't put a beak or eyes on the eagle that look remotly realistic, I was hoping someone could give me tips on how to do this. Two, I have the eagle flying across the screen, and finishing landing on some text which would be a name, I put the stop action on the last frame, and the eagle stops fine on the name, but the wings continue to move. I want to finish with the eagles wings at their top position, and then freeze them there. If anyone could help me with these two problems I would really apprecaite it. Thanks, Nofx1728
thanks. you may want to consider changing the wings from movie clip symbols to Graphic symbols - that way you can control then via the properties inspector (Loop, Single Frame or Play Once and type in a frame number). ****************************************** [quoted text, click to view] nofx1728 wrote: > Chris, I watched your video on the boy animation, it was great.
