Fwiw just in case you were not aware, there is a screen based manual and
actionscript dictionary (along with lessons and samples) in all versions of
flash (accessable under the help menu). -Tom Unger

I just upgraded to Studio 8, and of course it did not come with a manual. What
are some suggestions for a really good manual particularly for Flash 8
Professional? I actually prefer the manuals that are more visual in nature, but
any suggestion is welcome.

Thanks in advance

Here is what is on my shelves:
1. Using Action Script 2.0 components - Mactromedia Bob Berry
includes component language reference and the examples for creating
applications with components. It is over a thumping 1700 but well worth having
even if practically everything in it is available on line.
2. Learning Action Script for macromedia Flash 8 Macromed Jen DeHaan & Peter
deHaan - well laid out, good language full explanations -- great
3.Flash 8 on Que Publishing Andy Anderson & Steve Johnson excellent visual
layout, clear presentation loads of screen shots - if you like visual layouts
you might love this one.
4. Flash MX 2004 Professional Application development - (I am hoping there
will be a new version of this one out soon.) Macromedia Jeanetter Stallons --
loads of examples - well structured manual
5. Floash Action Script Hungry Minds Another visual focused on scripting -
not as well laid out as Flash 8 by Que but it covers some ground that the
Andersons have not covered.
I hope that is helpful
