There are, of course, dozens of kinds of games. This is a bit like
asking for food, and can anyone recommend anything? Well ... do you eat
meat, do you like veggies? You like Cajun, Indian, Mexican, Soul, Southern,
Polish, French? ;)

Here's a terrific book for relatively easy games.

http://www.garyrosenzweig.com/books/book9.html

.... it was written for Flash MX (aka Flash 6), but the principles are still
just fine, and if you publish for ActionScript 1, you shouldn't have any
problems.

Two more advanced books are Macromedia Flash MX 2004 Game Design
Demystified, by Jobe Makar and Ben Winiarczyk, and Macromedia Flash MX 2004
Game Development, by Glen Rhodes. Both have favorable reviews at Amazon and
the like.

Make no mistake about it, though. Games are tough. Writing a game is
rewarding, but it's one of the toughest things to pull off, because most
games are highly visual.

what kind of games - there is an unlimited possibility of games one could make - there really arent
any tutorials about how to build one step by step because even simple games can be complex on the
inside - go too www.flashkit.com and download a game source FLA and study it - grab as many as
possible - study them, learn from them - depending on the type of game you are after i would not
wait for someone to write a tutorial about how it was made - it would be like asking for a
step-by-step on how to build a house from the pouring of the foundation to the last shingle on the
roof - way too much to type.
Search amazon for flash books specific to games - this is an area you will need to learn a large
portion of flash ( graphics, animation, interactivity, possibly some database depending on the game).
