flash (macromedia): no - "cut" is not how - use "copy frames" then "paste frames".

admit what? why are there so many consiracy theories about something that has never been a bug or
even a broken feature? There's no way you "cut" multipl frames - "cut" is one thing "CUT FRAMES" and
"COPY FRAMES" is another. read the help documentation. Look at the drop down menu selections and see
there's "cut" and "cut frames". This is how flash has worked for several versions. There are no
technical support cover ups, scams or conspiracies about how cut and cut frames works. "copy frames"
works also. Always has.
you kind of answered your own question - the book you have says "cut frames". i dont have that book
in nfront of me but if it only says "cut" then it is in error and if that book was written by
somebody not employed by macromedia/adobe then the cover-up is on their end.

Hi,
Did you select a frame first before paste.
Cheers

that sounds weird - "cut frames"/"paste frames" worked in 1 doc but not another? I have never
experienced this feature not working (and i am always copying/pasting frames).
Lynda.com books and videos are among the best so I'm willing to bet if you got it to work normally
but 1 time it didnt then you must have done something incorrectly that one time.

The HOT book I have says CUT frames. Anyway I have done it both ways in the
past. More anyway, when I moved the item into another document and tried to
make a movie clip out of it, it WORKED!!! Is that the arcane type of
work-arounds you guys use?
I think it is buggy software or buggy files. Tech support does not want to
admit to this.

Inexperience usually leads to accusations of "buggy" software. Flash is
definitely quirky and sometimes incomprehensibly non-intuitive, but I doubt
your problem is a true bug.

All you have to do to accomplish your task is:

Select the span of frames in the timeline
Control-Click the highlighted frames to get the little modal menu, select
"Cut Frames"
In the Flash menus, go to Insert > New Symbol
Control-Click in the first frame of this empty timeline to see the menu,
select "Paste Frames"

OK yes, cut frames
cut frames etc to paste frames failed
but later when I moved the item to a new document, the procedure did work

It's the Lynda.com HOT flash book
