thanks for the attempts guys.... it was my dumb ass forgetting to break the text apart..... got it figured out... thanks anyway....
I am pretty new to flash, so please excuse my ignorance if this is a stupid question.... I am having problems with text transforming.... I put the text on the page, then transform it to the look I wan't ( either before or after I convert it to a symbol, problem happens either way ). I then convert it to a symbol and copy the frame farther down the timeline. I was using the alpha function to fade the text with a motion tween, but for some reason when I render it out, the text is no longer transformed, just cut off where the transform lines were placed. And the fade isn't visable either. Is there a setting, or something simple I might have hit??? I have done this in the past and the effect worked fine, so I am a bit puzzled. Any help would be greatly appreciated.... thanks...
It sounds like you didn't convert the text to a movie clip or graphic before you tweend the transform. I found that text objects on their own without converting them to a symbol don't animate properly or sometimes at all (the orators can correct me if I'm wrong). Just convert the text to a symbol and try again.
nope.... it's not that.... in fact, it previews fine in my scene window.... it just dosen't render right when I export it?!?!?!? go figure... the problem happens regardless of wether I apply the tansform to the text before it's a symbol or after, but I am converting it to a symbol either way.....
Hi, got answer for you. Creat your text--but choose STATIC TEXT rather than Dynamic. Counterintuitive, but works.
Additional Info: Further research shows that it may not be necessary to choose Static Text . . . As far as I can tell the problem is in the Publish feature of Flash for animated gifs. I can't get it to work trying pretty much every adjustment of settings and changing text to symbol etc. (note: if you create text, then use tween, it becomes a graphic anyway). The GOOD news is that if you skip the publish feature and go to File/Export/Export Movie/ and choose "Animated Gif" for Save As type, you end up with a gif that works just fine.
