I finally figured out what was causing Flash 8 to save so slowly. On my G5 dual
2.5 running OS X 10.3.8, Flash 8 was taking 20?60 seconds to save a file. As
soon as I turned off Norton AutoProtect, it took only a few seconds. Hope this
helps someone.

Some one told me that this might cause by not editing the fla file with the original computer which create the fla file

One of our users reports that this technique finally allowed her to save her
Flash 8 project without it taking forever or crashing Flash:

"If you have a flash MX file, you can resave it in flash 8 as a flash 8 file.
However, you have to make sure to change the publish settings from actionscript
1.0 to 2.0 ? every time you publish it."

Suddenly Flash files are taking 90 seconds to save. I'm used to saving every
few minutes and this is bad. I have uninstalled all Nortons to the best of my
ability. I've shutdown, tried with nothing else running. I'm on Mac OS X 10.4.4
G5. I see several questions about corrupt preferences that are unanswered.
There used to be a pref file you could trash.
