flash (macromedia):
I am working with Flash MX 2004 Pro (I have never worked with flash or any web
type programmes before) and I need to create a slideshow. I want to import lots
of images (20-150) and have them each displayed for the same amount of time,
about 5 seconds each, and then cross-fade one image to the next. Is there an
easy way to do this for a complete beginner like me ??.
Thanks for the help.....
Mike

Thanks for the reply and happy New year to you all....
The slide shows will be used to run automatically when visitors enter a page,
at this stage I have 3 pages (People, Places and Products) so 3 seperate
slideshows.
Thanks again

Unfortunately no easy way. Easy way would result in huge files because you would
need to import all of them to flash and tween them manually. But with 150 images
that's more action scripting programming required. There are however online , dynamic,
xml driven slide shows which takes content from xml file and run it based in loaded data.
Easy to modify at any time w/o actual digging in the slideshow file itself.

Is it just a slide which runs on its own ?

As easy solution is to use SWF 'n Slide to create Flash slide shows.

Consider buying Imagevue. You get the complete program so if you wish you can
change anything you like. A commercial license is 125 euro and it's the best
thing I've ever seen on the web. I don't know about you but 125 euro is about
1,5 hours worth of work so to me it seems like a good deal. (no, I'm not in any
way connected to Imageview).

Luigi,
I agree it seems like a good deal, I am just looking at the other work the company is doing, check out some of the site on there web site at:

Mike,
I bought the program some time ago now and have studied the code. It's (very)
good work. I guess if you have to build it from scratch it will take a few
weeks to complete (if you are used to writing ActionScript, that is). Once you
understand the code - which in Flash-programs sometimes is quite a hassle - you
can tweak the program to your needs.
Good luck!

Luigi, if you have your site up and running I would like to see it. As you may
have guessed, I am new to web design and all-things macromedia......I work
daily in photoshop CS and need to get to grips with timelines and actionscript.
I am just waiting for a reply from my server provider to see if I can use
imageview. Thanks again for the pointer.
