I am working on a Mac. I have created several forms in Freehand MX 2004 and
saved them individually as pdf files. I am creating an entire site from Flash
MX 2004. I want to be able to click a button and have it open the saved pdf in
Acrobat Reader. Do you have to have the J-Start program? I have tried using
the code
on (release) {
get URL("file.pdf","_blank");
}
It will make the rounds to the file but not open it. This seems like it
should be so easy.

JStart is for Windows only and for Standalone projectors exe files.
There is no tools like that for Mac that I'm aware of.

From browser getURL is your only option and unfortunately something we can't control.
If the user has set up a plugin to open PDF extension with acrobat than
it's fine but if not than it will probably prompt the download dialog.
Sometimes won't work at all , the setting responsible for making browser default
browser can be messed up if you have multiple browsers on the system.
This is something we really can not control.

If you making it on Mac for standalone than perhaps look up for Apple Script.
I never do work for mac so never research in that area but heard people mention
it when it comes to Projectors.
