motion tween works in timeline, not movie pry3i

flash (macromedia): I have a symbol that spans time 1 - 80 that has multiple motion tweens (its a
pointer that moves from point a to b to c to d). The motion displays just fine
in the timeline, but when i test scene or export movie, the pointer moves about
4 frames then stops.

I created a new project to see if it was me doing something wriong, but that
scene works perfectly.

it is not fesable to start from scratch with the original project, so
hopefully this is something one of you has seen before.

thanks

scene > works perfectly. Meaning that you copy/pastedt hat part(multi step
tween) into a new project, and it worked on the exported movie? I've noticed
that sometimes having things selected in teh authoring environment when you
export creates errors with the tween. So go to each keyframe(a,b,c,d) and make
sure the stuff is unselected. Basically just fiddle with it a bit. Or even
copy/paste it our to the working project, delete from the current, then
copy/paste it back in. That should clear it. However, it's a little unclear if
you meant you can get it to work in a new project, and there are plenty of
things you can do wrong, so if you upload the FLA someplace I can take a look.

whoops. i'll try to be a little more clear this time.

in the new project, i am creating it from scratch, using a pointer symbol and
using the same techniques i use in the other file. i just get different
results.

i create a new layer, insert keyframe at 80, select time 1 and put the pointer
in position a. insert another keyframe at 15, move the pointer , insert
keyframe, mover pointer then go back and tween them all from left to right.

tried the unselect trick and that made no difference. i created an new layer
in the original file and added the keyframes and just moved the pointer ( so
you would expect the pointer to jump from place to place ) but even that does
not work.

i cant imagine that it would matter, but i have another layer (a web page
still) that i simulate scrolling in the browser window and that layer doesnt
move either. So i guess what i'm asking , is it necessecary to have the pointer
and the page in the same layer?

So it turns out that there was never a problem with the actual pointer, but had
to do with the action script for the NEXT button .... seems i forgot to move
the action script from frame 4 to frame 80. Evidently this caused the animation
to STOP when the timeline reached that point.
