flash (macromedia):
I'd like to learn Flash, and especially ActionScript, with hopes it
will increase my employability. Right now funds are tight and I don't
want to buy the full package not knowing if I'll actually get very far
with it or ever make any money from it.

Anyone know of a limited, learning-only version that perhaps comes in a
CD/book combo or some other format? Thanks.

Download the free trial. You should know in 30 days whether you like it
or not. If you do, and funds are still tight, you could buy an older
version off ebay, though it wouldn't be AS2.
