hmmm - i think i am even more confused - i understand what you want to
do but i dont understand the outcome you say you are having.
If all of these frames are keyframes, and you are pasting into one of
these keyframes - are you telling me this same instance is showing up in
all 1400 keyframes? Are you pasting it into a keyframe on the main
timeline?
when you go to frame 490 to begin the pasting process, you select the
frame and paste in your symbol - then what happens?

Hi Everyone:
I'm new to Flash (MX 2004) and have two books I've been depending on. Flash MX
2004: Training From the Source and Flash MX 2004 for Dummies.
However, I can't find the answer to what I think would be a simple question. I
think my brain is just suffering from overload and I'm overlooking the obvious.
I need to paste a symbol (instance) into a few hundred frames (in the same
place). Around 400 of them to be exact.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Will D.
Edit Multiple Frames:
this is a feature that is turned on by a button on the timeline panel
right next to the Opnion Skin tool. click it and you will see 2 brackets
[ ] on both sides of the playhead. Adjust them to span frames 100-200.
Lock the layers you do not want edited. Select all and hit delete This
will delete all the contents in these frames for all the layers unlocked
between frames 100-200.
hopes this helps

Select the frame you want to copy and press comand+optioon+c
Then in a new frame press command+option+v
Vulcanus:
Thanks for the reply. I know how to copy & paste into 1 frame at a time.
However, I'd like to paste an instance of a symbol into about 400 frames at
once. Any idea how to accomplish this?
Thanks again,
Will D.

Thanks for the response. I appreciate it. However, you're solution isn't
working for me. I probably should have given you more background information.
I believe your solution is not working for me because I'm not trying to
paste the instance of the symbol into all my frames.
My project has 1,400 frames. I would like to paste the instance of the
symbol onto frames 490-890 only and have tremendous difficulty.
I've tried your solution repeatedly. However, as I'm sure you're aware,
the symbol keeps showing up in all the other frames on that layer as
well.
(BTW...they're all keyframes)
Again, thanks for the help.

Let me try a different approach here.
Say, for example that I have 2,500 frames in my project. In the project,
symbol 7 shows up on frames 1-20 and on frames 100-200.
How do I delete only the instances of the symbol in frames 100-200?
Thanks again for all your help.

Will D.

manually. unless you duplicate symbol 7, place the first copy in frames 1-20
(smaller amount of frames) and then delete the other copy from the library,
therefore removing it from frames 100-200.
Chris & Jamie:
Thanks for the help you've given. It looks as though I'll have to do it
manually because there are other symbols in those frames that I'm worried about
losing.
Jamie, you're absolutely right in regards to my first question. Thanks.

Will D.
