flash (macromedia) : Can't open .fla files in Flash trial version

I've downloaded the trial version of Flash MX 2004, but cannot open .fla files
that go with the New Perspectives tutorlal book from Course.com, or the .fla
file that I created in class last night and brought home on my thumb drive.
When I try to open them I get an alert box that says "Unexpected file format."

However, I *can* open the .fla files that I create with this trial version of
Flash MX 2004 on my home computer.

Is this feature locked out of the trial version, and I would be able to open
all .fla files in a licensed version?

My home computer is a PC using Windows XP SP2 and the school computer that I
used last night is also a PC using Windows XP (I don't know what SP they have
installed).

Thanks

Perhaps version incompatibility because trial has no blocks of any kind, never had.
It's a fully functioning application with only time limit for the usage and the files are
identical to the full licenses one.

The problem went away after I rebooted the computer. Duh!
