Loss of List when loading a movie to Level 1 -- flash (macromedia)

I am putting together a lesson in which I want the students to be able to bring
up a glossary on a button press. The glossary is another swf that I am loading
on level 1. Everything works fine except the list field that displays the
words is blank. If I load this movie on level 0 it works, but I would like to
keep it on level 1 so that I have access to the button that will unload the
movie and continue playing from where the movie was paused.. Any ideas on what
would cause this ?

In what level is the button? How are you loading the glossary and to where
(can you post your button script)? When you say you are loading to level 1,
are you using loadMovieNum("whatever.swf",1);? I am a bit confused because
if you had a movie in level 0 with a button in it and then used loadMovieNum
to load another movie into level 0, the previous movie would no longer exist
so I am struggling a bit with your description of levels. Post the script.
