flash (macromedia):
Greetings all,
A little background first. I have recently purchased thru Macromedia the
Studio MX 2004 bundle, I am new to the world of Macromedia Products and coming
from a GoLive background needed to reading materials to help me get started. My
inital book purchases consisted of two books:
- Dreamweaver MX 2004 - Training from the source
- Flash MX 2004 - Visual Quick Start
I read the Dreamweaver book in short time and truelly enjoyed every moment of
it, when it was done I felt I had a very solid foundation on how to operate
Dreamweaver from a newbies point of view. The book was extremely well written,
fluid and the guides made complete sense, it was just presented perfectly.
I like the book from Macromedia so much that I went back to the book store
and had returned the Flash Visual Quick Start book for an exchange towards the
" Flash MX 2004: Training from the source ", I enjoyed the Dreamweaver style of
training so much I knew the flash version had to be as good.
Unfortunately this is turning out not to be the case, while some aspects are
similarly written, the text is no where near as fluid and sensible as the
dreamweaver edition, the book jumps around a bit too much and gives you steps
to do assuming the reader already understands where these steps are needed to
be done. Even in the 1st few chapters there have been many moments my head just
boggles leaving me with the feeling of " what the heck does that mean? "..
The book also makes reference to files on the included CD-ROM and asks for
files that are listed in folders that do not even exist, no biggie and savy
person can figure out on their own what they are looking for, but this book has
been turning into a bit of a let down after being so excited by the Dreamweaver
MX 2004 training from the source edition.
I plan to finish the book since I enjoy reading while learning and the fact I
already paid for the book, but this book doesnt read very well, it just jumps
around and repeats its self way too much for my tastes, so with that in mind,
would any one be able to recommend a book of sililar nature that reads well and
leaves the end user with a feeling of understanding and accomplishment when
done?
I am sure many people have read the Flash MX 2005 Training from the source
and loved it, but for me personally, this book reads nothing like its
Dreamweaver familly member, that book read so well and never left me scratching
my head heh.
Thanks for your time and assistance.
