you can export png from flash as jpg, that is in fact the default setting.
Keeping them PNG loseless will only increase the file size.
Now, these images are not with transparency so you can import them as JPG to
keep your working FLA source file small, they do have tendencies to corrupt
especially when becoming larger.
To set up individual compression for each image (instead than using the global)
open the library CTRL L and right click your PNG , than go to properties.
Uncheck the smoothing, it makes them look better and than play around with compression.
If you import as jpg, you can set it to "use imported image compression", will keep them
the way they look before import.

Hi Urami - thanks for the good advice about the files! To answr your
question, actually both - I would like to change the image on a timeline
and/or be able to duplicate this to a new file excpet with different images.

The easy way would be to build such thing dynamically. Make a list of images in XML ,
load and parse the xml in flash and build fade engine that would shuffle the images list.
this would allow you to literally define any image you like for the very same file by simply
editing the xml source file (could be edited in notepad)
I could forward you one like that, done plenty of these for product showcasing where customer do
own updates. You can as well define variety of fade methods, all in XML.

The easiest of all w/o knowing any code and need to bother to learn it would be to save your file
as new file and open the library - right click images and go to properties.
Under properties you have IMPORT option where you can browse for different image and once you select
it , it will replace existing one and in the same time update anywhere it was used on timeline.
So you don't need to build the tween from scratch.

Want it dynamic ?
do let me know, i'm digging in one right now so i can just forward you the file in short while.

Hi All,

Thanks for reading. I have created a simple fade in/out flash movie, see the
link below. I have a couple newbie questions -

1. These images are png files straight from Fireworks - should I first
export these as jpg after using selective jpg compression to optimize these
images, or does Flash export these as jpg (I have the compression set to
70%)?

2. I would like to repeat this movie using separate but same-sized images -
is there an easy way to do this?

3. Anything else that should/should not have been done with this movie?

Thanks!
