Any hints?

Bentley,
I tested a several times, it's working without any problem when I export the
quicktime movie first in some other codec (quicktime or not), if I try with
older quicktime movies (before 7) it can work or it can fail (error 10).
But I really don't know why.
For now I procede as following, I try first, if it fails I reencode the movie
and then it's working for sure, rather strange behaviour, isn't it?

Martin,

Not certain that we've tested QT7 export with the FLV exporter yet (esp
on Tiger).. I should be getting my Tiger install soon and will test..

Hey-

I just experienced a failure <10> using 10.3.9 and QT7. I don't know what codec was used to make the quicktime, yet.

You were making a flv right? If so, like I have posted before. I have
not had any problems in making flv with QT7 on a mac with OSX3.9. It
really doesn't matter what the codec of the original movie is.If you
have it imported into QT and playing. QT should be able to export it to
a flv with no problems.

Perhaps it "should" be able to, but add my name to the list of people
who couldn't export an FLV from QT 7. :) Fails with error 10. The
source movies play fine in QT. I had to re-export to QT with no video
compression in order to get the FLV export to work. This is on 10.4,
but everything else was fine. (Flash MX 2004 Pro worked fine, etc.)

hey-

It really does fail for me. here is a link to a pdf of a screen shot of it
failing.

i tried to get the user to remake the movie using tiger (qt7), but user is
having trouble with the install...

hmmm.... any other ideas?

hey-

problem solved. when exporting, I had to select a new size. so the problem may or may not have been the flash encoder.

thanks,

I too have had problems after upgrading to qt7. It's frustratin
because previous video files (.mov) that I had successfully converte
to .flv, still worked if I tried to do it again, but the new file I
had received would not export. I had to export to .mov with n
compression in order for it to work..

I'm getting the same problems when I go to publish as a quicktime '.mov file'.
I get:
The installed version of Quicktime does not have the handler for this type of
Macromedia Flash movie.(v7 compressed) Please consult the documentation for
further information.
Which is fair enough but it was working before I upgraded to OS 10.4 and QT7...
I tried publishing as lower version of Flash movie (v4) and I just get another
error message saying
Error.unable to complete chosen task
or words to that effect....:frown;

Export to flash 5 if you want to import a flash into QT...

If your making a qt from a flash. Don't use publish, it won't work.

Go to Menu--->File--->Export--->Export Movie

Now a new window will open to were to save the movie and file format.
Under the drop down for file format pick Quicktime Video. If you pick
Quicktime (it's there too) that is right above it (on a mac here) your
screwed again.

Let me know if this works...works on a mac...

They may have done that if one is using a program that doesn't support
QT7 as of yet.

QT 7 is great. No problems here.

QT7 is so good that Apple have put a link on the "Downloads" section of
support for a widget
that will remove it and reinstall the last veriosn of 6.

QT 6 doesn't run under Tiger ;-)
And without irony: is working fine here, error messages with flashexport concerned only few older movies saved by snapz pro (attending the tiger update)

Hi there,
my problems aren't solved (Flash MX Pro & Video Exporter upgrade to latest
version & QT 7.02)
I can't exported except when changing the image size (even 1pix smaller will
do) but what if i DON'T WAN'T the video to b scaled ???
I always get the 'FAILED <10>' error ...

I've been experiencing this same "Failed <10>" error every time I try to export
to FLV from QT7. (OSX10.3.9, Flash MX 2004 Pro 7.2, FLV Exporter v1.2

I'll try the size changing trick (thanks!), but it would nice to get a real
solution . . . ?

Is this Macromedia's ploy to get everyone to upgrade to Flash 8?

I've tried the resizing work around solution on a couple of different files
now. The Export makes it almost to the end now -- I guess that's a step in the
right direction -- but it ultimately fails. Every time.
