Well..besides the already posted comments the biigest thing I see is that
there is really no reason for this site to be in flash. Except for the
beginning, nothing animates or uses the advantages of flash. Site could work
just as well in straight HTML It seem as thogh you are jsut fading pages in
and out. Think about interactivity with the site. Pictures fading in and out
to show more of your work, that kind of thing.

All in all a good page for being your first...hope you have 100's more
to come...One word of advice. Don't trash it to make changes. Keep it
and make changes to a copy. You never know you may just go back to your
original design or years down the road you can show your first web site.

I don't think objects have to animate in a flash. Beside his opening
animates. Whats wrong with building an html in flash?

I can read it but it took a little effort. Perhaps a different font.
Also - suggest a different font for the nav? that way it would be
separated more from your name.
overall it's clean, simple and easy to navigate - it's almost too simple
to justify a flash site - i kept trying to click one of the thumbnails
to see an animated popup of pic in a higher res.

nice.

Very true and very well said too.
Flash is now a very powerful tool and can be used to make info -based sites as
well. It is not just an animation tool anymore. Building an html in flash with
different pages for each link is all the more helpful for SEO(search engine
optimization) rather than making a one complete presentation.
Flash files can now be indexed by Google. Rem the text in ur flash counts and
specially one without animation(to be indexed in google).

A very well said addition merlinvicki.

In addition:

A web site containing 10 pages and the backgrounds are the same. But
content changes from page to page, new content loads dynamically.

Changes made easier. Want to move something, easy, grab and move.

Embed video easier.

Don't have to check a on all browsers (html you have too). And don't
have to do mac/window check (html you have to).

The list is endless.

Just the other night I was making a menu for my site. Pain in the tush
in html. After an hour trying to get it to work in html. mmmmmm
Flash...fifteen minutes later done.

Lyndsey your doing ok just hang in there.

I am almost finished with my first flash site. I wanted some opinions from the
pros.

I appreciate any advice you can give. However, if you think I should change
something, please give me some direction as to how.

Thanks a lot :beer;

for html javascript menus u can check a software called OpenCube Navstudio
2005. It has a very simple and user friendly interface and u can make any kind
of animated menus and good looking menus * which run on all browsers.

The code also is such that it can be externally manipulated for any changes in
ur menu without touching ur html files.
check it out at : http://www.opencube.com/
