flash (macromedia):
Hello,

Is it possible to create a Flash drop down menu where you don't need the extra
space below the pulldown bar for the sub-menu's to appear? I am playing with
the Drop Menu template/tutorial that comes with MX. In the last slide it says
to resize your movie dimensions. If I do that and make the movie dimensions the
same as the pulldown then the sub-menus don't appear. If say I make the movie
height 300px then the drop down bar takes up 300px pushing my site contents
down.

I would like the sub-menu drop down part to go over the current sites content.
(like a normal html pulldown would do)

Is this possible?

TIA
Josh

It's not possible, flash can only show within the canvas boundaries.
What we usually do in such case is make a really large canvas and than place the
movie in Layer and set the background to transparent so it appear like it goes
beyond available area. There is a trade off tho, using transparency (WMODE tag)
it's know to cause problems. It's not support in all browsers and may make your movie
malfunction.

by the way, you can always use javascript drop down menu and only call it from
flash animated buttons.
Something like the http://www.kbhome.com/
The buttons Find, Personalize, Finance, About Us
