flash (macromedia):
CanadianJ03;
I can't address the specific issues you bring up, but you should be
aware that a saved source file ("fla") is usually used for editing flash
movies, not the exported swf. The compiled and compressed swf was designed
mostly for playback, and perhaps for this reason flash's swf import has
always been very limited:

If you really need to import and edit swf files, there are tools that are
better at swf import than flash, but I have no experience with them to offer
any recommendations. A search of this group (macromedia.flash) archive at
google groups or the web in general should bring up some

Hey, I downloaded a flash movie (.swf) and I have Flash MX. The movie has an
advertisement for a website that died a few years ago, and its in the entire
movie. When I go to MX and go to edit the movie, I hit Import Movie, select the
movie, and remove it from the frame that shows up. Then I go to export movie,
name it test, and save it. When I try to play the test movie, it shows up as
just one picture (the opening frame), and not the entire movie. Is there any
way I can make it so the banner is gone from the entire movie, and be able to
make the movie play at the same time instead of it being just one still frame?
P.S The movie has some clickable areas too. Would that change anything? I do
need some step by step instructions, because I don't really make movies on MX.
I just try to edit them and I need a tip with this. So step-by-step
instructions would help.

Thanks.
