FLV audio out of sync

flash (macromedia):
Having trouble with crreating a Flash presentation that uses FLV files for
video. For some reason the Audio and Video go out of sync after they have been
imported into Flash.

Is there any way to do this without them going out of sync? Or what could be
causing them to go out of sync?

I`m using Final Cut Pro to cut the video with export option set to FLV.

just to add a minor note - you can actually type in "29.97" for the
frame rate of your flash movie in the "Modify Movie" panel.

What framerate are you using for the video?

What kind of compression are you using for the sound?

You are using MX04pro, right?

Also perhaps you shouldn't import them into Flash. Instead use the dynamic
playback options with either a component or the NetStream class. It allows the
player to better manage the memory requirements for playing video.

The video I`m using is in its native frame rate of 29.97 fps. Yes, It is being
played within a component. The project is being authored in Flash MX2004 Pro.

Also I`m using 128kbp audio compression. Could that be causing the problem?

Actually my guess would be more the frame rate. Remember that Flash is designed
to deliver content over the web. So even though you can do full rate video it
really isn't such a good tool for that. I would suggest dropping the frame rate.

Also others here have found that matching the framerate of their movie to the
framerate of the video helps. I'm guessing that your flash file isn't running
at 29.97? :) I don't match my video rate to my flash rate, but you might want
to give it a try. You might want to try the video at something like 24 or even
lower.

As for the audio. I have some sneaky suspicions that uncompressed audio causes
problems. Nothing really solid to base that on. But since you are compressing
it somewhat I'm not going to go with my wild speculations on that. You might
want to try a lower rate ? perhaps even an unacceptably low rate ? just to see
what happens.

Okay I`m going to give it another try this time exporting the FLV at 15 fps to
match the Flash movie`s frame rate.

One question though, since the FLV is being played via a component isn`t it`s
frame rate independent of the main movie`s?

Yes the frame rate is supposed to be independent. And I often don't match the
rates and have never had a problem. But others here ? who were having problems
? claimed to find success with matching the rates. Personally I think something
else is going on, but haven't experimented enough to find out. It could just be
that they got off 29.97.

I never knew you could enter non-integer frame rates. That is amazing. Do they
work properly?

It seems odd that it would be possible. Since we know that even under the best
of circumstances Flash isn't able to hold an accurate frame rate, why would it
let you choose fractional rates?

It certainly might help with the problem of matching the video rate. But I
still maintain that Flash really isn't well suited to playing back full rate
video.
