flash (macromedia) : Macromedia Flash MX 2004 crashes on launch

I recently downloaded this program but cannot get it to load. A friend did at
the same time and it works OK on her PC. My problem is that during the initial
launch I crash while it says "initializing fonts" in the lower right corner. I
just get a generic "error has occurred" that really isn't of much help. Can
anybody help or make suggestions? I've already tried redownloading and
installing the program.

problem solved.

I'm having this exact same error with MX 2004. What do you mean by "quick
player"? Do you mean the Flash Player?

This is a very frustrating error...all other applications in the Suite (and
other Macromedia products--Captivate, RoboHelp, etc.) work fine.

It is indeed weird and absolutely ridiculous, but uninstalling Quick time player really works. I faced the same problem of crashing, but after i uninstalled quick time, Macromedia did not crash. This is for real. It really works !!!
