flash (macromedia):
Why not use quicktime pro. You can get a copy for $29 dollars. Within
quicktime pro you then can set compression rates.

Hello,

I need to compress a few quicktime movies. One is about 480 Mes, and the rest
are in between 280 mewgs and 100 megs.

I purchased Sorenson Squeeze for Flash MX and I was able to create .flv files
that seem to be OK.
I didn't anticipate that my customer (who is a friend - therefore not a
"paying" customer) would also ask me to have the Quicktime files available for
downlaod and playback - otherwise I would have purchase the full version on the
first go-round -

Now Sorenson wants me to basically buy the full version on its own... in
essence, buying 2 pieces of softrware and making the first one useless...

Not knowing IF/WHEN I will actually need the full version, here's my First
Question:
Is there anyway I can compress a Quicktime movie with a program that won't set
me back $500.00

Second Question
Is there anyone who could use Sorenson Squeeze 4.1 for Macromedia Flash MX
(Windows) if I purchase the full version - so that I could at least get some of
my $$ back.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Clarke

The best tool for messing with Quicktime files is unfortunately Quicktime
Pro. Its only about 30 bucks though I think. The new version also uses the
H.264 codec which is allegedly better/smaller/faster. Not actually available
yet for PC though. I very nearly sprung for the upgraded S Squeeze as I
already have the Flash Video Kit which comes with the "starter version"
Instead I have preordered Studio 8 which is coming with Flash 8 Pro which I
believe will render the Sorenson thing pretty much redundant. Hoping so
anyway.
