flash (macromedia):
I'm trying to make a flash movie. I have made a splash screen with the title of
the movie, and a button that is clicked to start the movie.
Heres my problem....
when I make my button, and I go in to edit it, I get a message that says
"current sellection cannot have actions applied to it."
How do I make a button that actually does something?
Thanks for any help.

BTW..I'm using Flash MX Pro 2004.

are you sure its a button? and not just a movie clip or something else?
or when you say you go in to edit it do you mean yhou like doulbe click the
button and go in that way, or you just select the button and then go to the
actions?

Sorry, I should have been more specific.
Ok, I put text on the stage, surround it with a border, hit F8 to convert,
make sure its converted to a button. then I double click the button in my
library, and go into the actions tab, and try to put in the actionscript. Thats
when I get the message.

OK
when you double click and go in there, all your are basicly is doing is
effecting the appearance of the button
to make the button do thing, you need to be on the main timeline, select (not
doulbe click) the button, and then go to the actions panel, and you should be
able to do things.
i had a lot of problems with this when i was first learning flash.
