flash (macromedia): I have searched the KB and the forums, but cannot find an answer to what I
would think to be an easy question. How can you change the layer and object is
on? I have animations that I want to use as links, and I didn't think about
creating a separte layer for each one so I can manipulate them later on.

In the authoring environment or at runtime? In the authoring environment there
are host of ways. Create a new layer, and cut and paste, or drag the keyframes,
or select your objects, and then right click > distribute to layers
