flash (macromedia):
Need help on how to stop imported psd and jpg images degrading in flash. Have tried Hi Res images (300dpi) and they still look jagged in the final outcome. Movie compression setting is 72 dpi, need that setting because it is a large document size. This has happended on smaller flash projects as well. Have tried .png too....... still seems to degrade. Has anyone a solution? Any help appreciated.
Step 1: Load a JPG into your library (File -> Import -> Import to Library); Step 2: Goto library and Right-Click on the file you imported and select Properties Step 3: Click on the Compression Drop Down Box and Select JPEG Step 4: Uncheck "use document default quality" Step 5: Change value to 100 Now keep in mind, the point of having compression is to decrease file size, so if you make it 100% and its a giant image your SWF is going to be huge. If you make your image 300dpi, it will look fantasic when blown up, but if the original file was made in 72 dpi and you upped to to 300dpi, you will actually see no differance when imported into flash, because the original file was 72 dpi. Hope that helps.
Yeah the only way you can make the images better is by is decompressing the jpg movie quality. Now it might surprise you, but I don't use alot of pictures in my flash project. I'm more into vector images that take up less space. So I tried one of my theories that I thought might work. The only way I can think of is to change the jpg quality of the specific image. If you're using small images, then you won't notice the need to have the images uncompressed. If you need large high quality images, you will have to have a large flash file.
