flash (macromedia):
check your local folder for an swf file SteelExternalPlaySeekMute.swf or the like. The skin a is a seperate swf and is loaded externally. It needs to be in the same direcory as your player. Marcos
When accessing a FLV file from a non local area the skin is not visible but if the file is local it's fine. So if I have the FLV at a separate domain name than the original file the skin is not visible. The file plays as its set to auto play but no skin. What seems to be the problem?
I am having the exact same problem. I have no idea why this doesn't work. Did you figure this out yet? I would like to know the answer. Thanks,
I had the same problem and spent several hours looking for the answer. Yep...just like you upload the .swf file to the website server, you must also upload the skins for the player as well. Look in you local website folder for files similar to the skin name you are using in the video (the .swf skin is automatically created when you Export the flash movie(.swf) that contains the video player. You must upload the skin (.swf files) to the same folder as your flash movie(also a .swf file). Example of .swf player skins: ClearExternalAll.swf MojaveExternalAll.swf SteelExternalAll.swf Just tested this and it works fine now.
Make sure the .swf (for the skin) file is uploaded to the server along with the flash movie. You have to manually upload the seperate skin .swf for the skin to work. It sounds like the external skin is too big for the flash movie... and is running outside the flash movie...try resizing the flash movie by making it bigger in height (H)...you will need an additional 50 pixels below the flash movie on your flash stage for the skin to appear. Hope this helps!
The above info was helpful. I can get an "over" playback control to render on webpage (e.g. MojaveOverPlaySeekMute.swf) But if I choose "external" version (e.g. MojaveExternalPlaySeekMute.swf) the control does not render on webpage, but the auto Flash Movie Plays fine. (applies to Firefox 1.5b2 and IE6) Any ideas? Woody
Not sure if my previous follow-up post went through so sorry if this shows as a repeat. Thanks. for the above info. It was very helpful. I added 60px to the height setting and the external playback control rendered fine. Within Flash Pro 8, When importing a clip into the Flash video, the pixel width required by the bundled FLVpalyback UI/controls is displayed. But no info provided on the pixel height required. So in regards the twelve bundled skins providing external controls, how do I identify the pixel height that needs to be added to the HTML? That is besides trial and error. :D Thanks Woody.
Yeah...pretty much "trial and error" is needed to see how different media displays in a flash movie. With imported video there is a feature that lets you keep the ratio as well as an option to keep the same size as the imported video. I recommend keeping the ratio the same, but for webpage design, I would uncheck the maintain same size option so that you can customize the exact fit of the movie by clicking on the movie player on the stage and changing the size in your properties below. Not sure if this answered your question.
