Why would suddenly my movie nav bar on the web stop working in internet
explorer mac OS X, but OK in OS 9. Also, the movie nav bar works ok in FireFox
and Safari. Does this have anything to do withg that "security" thing? If so,
I got to fix that fast. How? flash 7 DW 7 Mac OSX 10.4.8

so far it seems confined to OSX and explorer; still I want it fixed of course.

Search on "eolas" in this forum. There is some good info. My solution was to
let Dreamweaver 8.02 fix my code. Basically it uses Javascript.
It is an automatic fix (you are asked if you want it to be fixed) for
any active content when you open the old page. There are many different fixes,
with varying degrees of automation. I haven't updated all my pages with
<object> and <embed> tags. Here's one to try if you want to see how I did it.

So this would fix flash links that suddenly stopped working in explorer on OSX? I dont even want to own DW8.
Thats a pretty groovy background page.

Oops, I didn't read your problem closely enough to even see the "mac OS X". I
saw the internet explorer and when I looked at your site, saw in the page
source that it needed an eolas fix. That's true, but is a separate problem.

Microsoft stopped updating IE for Mac a long time ago, didn't they? I've
opened IE 5.2 on Mac OS X 10.4.8. This worked OK:
http://www.stevez.biz/foto_fun/dam/damCover.html

Even menu items worked. Except foto fun came up blank. Then it couldn't show
the travel page photos. Now it is trying to reload msn.com, which opened fine
for starters, spinning blankly. Meanwhile I've been enjoying your site
immensely.

I haven't been testing in Mac IE 5.2. To me it looks like memory/cache kind of
problems. I do have a lot of other apps and browsers and windows open. Finally
had to Force Quit IE. My guess is that the problem is IE, not your Flash, so I
can't advise how to fix it. But the number of people using IE 5.2 must be
pretty small, since so many better browsers are easily available.

I'm sorry, I don't have the latest IE on WIndows, with the affected version of
the browser, so I can't test it for you. It is my understanding that any direct
inclusion of the movie would cause a dialog to pop up, which is Microsoft's way
of not violating the Eolas patent. If your movie does not cause this problem
then my understanding is incorrect. Not to worry!!!

Steve Zavodny;
Although plug-in using browsers (Mozilla, safari, opera, ie/mac etc)
probably also violate the Eolas patent, they sued Microsoft only over their
active x implementation (so only ie/pc was affected). Probably a matter of
going for the "deep pocket".
Yours could a flash player version issue, or perhaps a browser cache
size issue--but as mentioned in another post in this thread, ie/mac is a
"dead" browser and things are bound to start to break sooner or later...
Many have stopped testing and supporting ie.mac at this point... - Tom
