The first problem is that all you wrote is "Help" in the title of your thread.
Note that most people write a brief description of the problem. Something
titled "Help" will be ignored by many people, since there are so many other
more interesting-sounding questions listed.

What kind of file are you trying to open? A SWF file? An FLA file? Is it
something that was originally created by someone else? if so, it may be trying
to call on external files, such as a shared folder or and external ActionScript
file or some externally linked images.

Try creating a new Flash file. Put anything in it. Then close it and try to
reopen it. Do you still have the same trouble? If so, then there is something
wrong with your downloaded copy of Flash, or with the installation (registry or
whatever). Is it a legitimate copy?

I am sorry about the title.....

I have both the FLA file and SWF file the unedible file opens but when I open
the one that I am suppose to be able to edit I get the above error. right now
this is a trial and I do not belive this is a limitation of the sofware
problem. I have opened other file without a problem.

the file is from a template for a webpage I am trying to custimize. this file
is suppose to be able to custimized.

any help would be appreciated
