flash (macromedia) : Gradual Text Color Change

Is there a way to make a tween so that text changes color from left to right instead of all at the same time? Similar to how a karaoke machine highlights the words as the song plays.

By using some kind of gradient mask on top of the text possible. Not really in other way.
Even if you going to use drawing api you still need to create gradient.
