flash (macromedia):
I'm getting absolutely no sound on my flash player, regardless whether it's on
firefox or internet explorer. This doesn't happen on quicktime or windows media
players, and my volume control is fine! Help!

Hi,
make sure that you do not have more than one Flash Player version installed and if so, try to re-install the Flash Player

shostakovichlistener;
Quite some time ago, I posted that I'd seen this happen on macs when the
system sound setting gets set to something over 44.1k. Unfortunately an
oversight in the Audacity open source sound editor, fails to re-set the
system sound settings after use on macs and perhaps on pc as well. Check the
forum archived at google groups (use advanced search) for similar threads
here. There have been quite a few similar threads (and for pc as well I
believe). -Tom Unger

Hi all,

Guys, I've gotten the exactly same problem, my flashplayer don't play sounds
on my PC, not only on my web navigators, but also in games that use this
technology. I've tried to reinstall my flashplayer, but it didn't work. I've
heard about this error on Mac's, where the solution was to run the Apple
GarageBand software, that would gain the control of the system sounds again.
But this software isn't available for Windows. Is there any solution? Or will I
have to format my HD (I really don't want to do this)?

don't reformat your HD!!! That is like torching your car because you got a flat tire.
has anyone experiencing this problem in this thread gone to their control panel and checked their
audio settings?
Make sure the appropriate audio hardware is selected - often an audio program will have its own
prefs that are directly related to your system prefs and they may have been changed at some time.
