flash (macromedia): you forgot to mention converting the image to a symbol - a very critical step.

here:

1. get your imported image on the stage - select it and convert it to a symbol (graphic or movie clip).

2. create a 2nd keyframe somewhere down the timeline (say frame 50).

3. right click over the frames anywhere in between these 2 keyframes and select Motion tween.

4. go to the keyframe where you want the image to be faded out and select the symbol on the stage
(click once).

5. In properties panel use the color effect menu to select alpha and use the slider to move it down
to 0%

I am trying to get pictures to fade in and out...cant seem to find how to do
that.

I went to help, it says to locate Screen Outline Panel...dont have one. To
locate the screen outlook panel, go to Windo>Other Panels>...it is not
available.

Why is this not available, am I opening the wrong type of project? (flash doc)

Go to actions box..click...nothing but errors.

What am I missing, and why dont they explain it better.

Here is a good one, I go to script assitant, it says it cannot assist because
there is an error????????????? What is the point of that?

Anyone at least point me in the right direction?

Drag a picture from the library to the stage on frame 1 for example
click on the first frame in the timeline of the picture layer to highlight it
Hit F5 to it reaches frame 20
Right mouse click on the entire row and choose Motion Tween
Click on the last frame and hit F6 to complete the tween
while the last frame is clicked
open the properties window and from the color drop down choose your alpha
setting.
Your Done
to stop the timeline put a stop(); action on the last frame
Do this for all of your images and move them up the timeline as needed.

You could also do this within a movieClip and have an image loop all on 1 frame

and tons of other possibilities.

Thank you for your reply...but it did not work.

Did your suggestion exactly...except when I go to the properties window,
there is no color drop down, the is nothing that says alpha.

There is a tween drop down that gives me 3 options (none, motion, shape).

What am I missing?

Thank you to both ot you. The second way worked, although I was able to find the color drop down after I moved the image a little.

It has put me onto the right path.
