flash (macromedia):
I am doig a project for FBLA in my school and I'm making a "music video" i have
finished everything in the video except for the animation of his mouth moving.
I want it to be just like a black circle moving and closing kinda like south
park.. What is the best/easiest way to do this, i'm not exactly sure where to
start

For that kind of animation you could use simple motion tween. Say you draw a circle
and make it a movie clip or graphic symbol. Using the transform tool you can squeeze
it up and down. Apply motion tween within frames making it animated. Tho it will be
off hand and tedious process but there is no automated way to do it, on the other hand
once you do few frames and you start feeling it, it will become easier to create as
you go.

I'm sure you can get some more detail tips from Chris a.k.a Phatkow at the http://wwww.mudbubble.com
or http://keyframer.com/forum/ , our forum regular participant and very talented cartoonist
who has been doing these things for decade.
If you don't see him reply to this thread, seek him up at the keyframer forum (url above).

alright that's what I was doing but I was just wondering if anyone had any
mouth animation ideas that are easier. Um also do you think there is like maybe
a chart or something out there somewhere that has like pictures of little
mouths that correspond to like each letter/sound

Here's a tutorial. It's presented as a Flash movie.

Sure there are :)

You need to google for "lip sync tutorial" or "animation lip sync" (the first could
lead to singing lessons :) ), you should be able to find many places with resources.

This is really off the wall,

When I saw the title of this post it brought to mind the cheesy cartoons of
the '60's & early '70's where there was a set frame, and the character's mouths
were "animated" by a clip of an actual mouth moving superposed on the frame
(anybody remember Clutch Cargo?)

Anyway, the throught came to my mind what if you made a quick video of someone
talking or singing, extracting 5, 10, or however many frames you needed out as
bitmaps, then using auto trace in illustrator to turn the mouth shapes into
vector shapes, then tweak the shapes however you want.

Good luck
