Background Color Lost When Exporting in PNG -- flash (macromedia)

I suspect you exported a 24 bit with alpha channel png and the black
really actually became transparent. Perhaps the application in which you
viewed the exported png did not support alpha transparency. You don't
mention what the destination is, but try exporting an 8 or 24 bit png
without alpha. -Tom Unger

is this black set under document properites? if so try making a new layer and placing a black
rectangular shape the same size as the stage.

I have set the background color to black with some white text all on one layer
and then seek to export an image in PNG format, but the background color turns
to white.

How can I get the background color to stay black upon export as image In PNG?
