Hi,

I just installed Flash 8 from Macromedia Studio 8 (on Windows XP), and i keep
getting certain errors when i try to run it.

The installation went smooth, but when i run Flash, it pops up these 3 errors:
- Flash XML parsing fatal error: Invalid document structure, line: 1, file:
\Screen Types\Form\catalog.xml
- Flash XML parsing fatal error: Invalid document structure, line: 1, file:
\Screen Types\Slide\catalog.xml
- The default screen types Form and Slide are missing from the configuration.
Please restore them by reinstalling

After those, flash does start, but some parts of the interface are missing,
such as the toolbox.
I've tried repairing and reinstalling, but with no success.

Can this be solved?

Ok, i've located the missing files in the InstallDirectory\First Run, and
replaced them. It stops giving the errors now, but the toolbox buttons are
still invisible (no icons, and unclickable).

Is there really no one else who encountered this problem? It's frustrating.

Finally, I've solved it by replacing the entire directory in Documents and
Settings, called Configuration, with the First Run directory in the install
dir. I'm still clueless of why this install is so faulty on my PC.

Excellent!

However to help other people with finding out what "amanuo" means exactly here the two directories involved completely:

C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash 8\en\First Run
Now copy WHOLE contents with all sub directories into
C:\Documents and Settings\REPLACE_WITH_YOUR_USER_NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash 8\en\Configuration
thereby overwriting ALL existing duplicates.

cheers
