flash (macromedia):
you simply need to design your sites with real world monitor resolutions in mind - i run all my
monitors at 1600x1200 but i would never author content at this size because i know the majority of
users are at 1024x768 and even 800x600.
You need to change the dimensions of your site and re align all assets as necessary.

I kinda lost you on that - what deas that mean? you cant use a browser to make a web page - did you
mean test it? shouldnt really matter if he authored his content at 1409 pixels wide and is testing
on a 1024 pixel wide monitor, the choice of browser is not going to make a difference - there will
always be cropping.

Why is this and can it be solved?
To clear things up. I am using a Powerbook G4 Mac, with a 1409 wide resolution.
My SWF is 600 high x 428 wide so that it will fit on 800 x 600 monitors
(although I think I need to ammend this to allow for the start bar (pc) and
Mac). I've tested my SWF (Apple Enter when in Flash) on my Mac at all kinds of
resolutions and it seems fine. However when I view it online with Internet
Explorer using a PC with a monitor resolution of 1024 x 768 (which resolution
tested on my Mac fine), some elements are crucially a couple pixels off, i.e. I
have a kind of finished 3D jigsaw effect in a pixel style which should appear
like the pieces were fixed together, but tested online on the PC the pieces are
off a few pixels so they do not appear fixed together. One of the pieces even
has a random white pxel floating beside it.
Its heart renching and I want to fix it. When its done the SWF will open in
its own chromless style window (when clicking 'Enter' in the HTML page) at the
correct demensions. At the moment when I view it online with Internet explorer
it resizes the SWF to fill the browser, perhaps this is the problem?
Thanks again.
You have to run several more test before you can come to a conclusion.
Try viewing the swf using the flash player on a PC without Internet explorer
(the PC must have the Flash program installed for this)
I have had some strange problems myself when I published my flash work and
embedded it in a html. HTML can do the strangest things to your flash
document. See to it that the Flash Publish settings are correct; the correct
flash player version number, correct AS version... that was the problem in
my case.
Ctrl / Apple + Enter publishes a page, using the Publish settings.
Good luck!
