Integrating Flash 5 SWFs into Flash 8 App

Integrating Flash 5 SWFs into Flash 8 App snurg

flash (macromedia): I would like to Integrate Flash 5 SWFs into
a new Flash 8 App I am building

Are there any downsides to this

e.g. I would like the SWFs to be loaded into
specific areas of my main screen, but I do not
have the actual Flash 5 FLA's, only the SWF's

thanks

It seems very unlikely to me that loading a SWF5 in to a SWF8 would work
properly, but I don't know how it works. A dynamically loaded SWF is like a
MC(movieclip), so I don't think the Flash Player would treat certain MCs as a
Flash5 and others as a Flash8. But what do I know? Try researching the matter,
I know I've seen the issue raised before.

I actually just replied to another on this exact topic....hmmm must be in the
air. I recently republished older Flash 5 files using Flash 8. We found that
the users had to have Flash 8 installed or they lost the text on some of the
files and the buttons. Our use is internal and some users had been using an
older version or Flash 5 player still. I don't know how it would be affected
if you would embed them into another movie. My suggestion would be to try it,
just remeber to keep a backup copy.
