flash (macromedia):
When a person is watching streaming content on the web in flash they lose the
ability to right click on the player to get the bitrate that the video is
streaming at. Also you have no menu options for he player so you can't get any
properties of what the player is doing. How does someone find out what bitrate
the video is streaming at whil watching a video clip?

Thanks,

Kyle

What do you mean "?lose the ability?"? Is there every a time you can right
click on the player to get the bitrate of a FLV?

In general I don't think you can. The bitrate might be included in the
metadata of the FLV, but if the programmer didn't do anything to
capture/display that information it probably isn't available to the user.

Right, "...lose the ability..." means that if a person is watching video in any
other format other than flash they have the ability to view the video
statistics. Even without the right click capability, they can still get the
properties for the video file that is streaming. Flash takes this away
inherently because of the fact that the video sits inside an swf file.

My question was how is it possible to pull stream info from an flv if the flv
is embedded in an swf file?
