you want what is called a "preloader" - just search google or these forums for literally hundreds of
tutorials and links to examples and source FLAs - preloaders have been around for several versions
and years and they vary in design to accomodate specific movie setups.

see the google groups link in my sig and search for "preloader"

hope this helps.

Hi all,

My website contains a flash "movie" which is around 700kb big. When you visit
my website the object is not moving smooth because it has to be completely
downloaded before it does. On slower internetconnections it lags like hell.

Is there a way to start a flash object after 5 seconds for example so the
movie is downloaded in the meantime its on "pause"?

I use Dreamweaver 8 and Flash 8.

Any suggestions/solutions are welcome.

Tanks in advance.
