flash (macromedia):
60 fps is a lot of frames for the player to draw every second - and since flash renders on the fly -
it's even harder - because flash is not like pre-rendered video with a fixed frame rate - fps in
flash is more like a limiter - flash will always try and maintain the frame rate you set - but
several factors can produce undesireable results - like use of animation, alpha, gradients, scaling
- etc....

hard to suggest to you how to optimize without seeing your movie.

I created a flash file that plays perfectly from the player but when I call it
from an HTML page the speed is slowed dramatically why would that happen?

FYI my FPS is set to 60, this was the first thing I tried.

I've tried to lower the FPS but it's made my timing even worse. All I?m doing
in my animation is fading images in and out with the alpha tool. I also use MP3
audio in my movie if that makes a difference. Here?s a link to my move if you
wouldn?t mind taking a look at it. I'm not sure what I can do to fix this.

best practice is to import your images as uncompressed (PNG) and adjust the amount of jpg
compression in flash. If you import as JPG then you will be exporting as JPG again and compressing
anything twice is never good. "Raw JPG" is an oxy-moron phrase because JPG compression at any level
is still compressed - even at 100%.

is your audio set to Stream? it should be if you want it to sync with the timeline.

I've cut my FPS down to 20 and my timing is still off depending on whose
computer I?m viewing it on. My project is a 1.5 min MP3 audio clip that plays
while I transition pictures at specific points. An audio slide show if I had to
give it a name. Here a link to it. Is what I?m trying to do even possible? Or
is my timing going to off depending on the viewer?s machine no mater what I do?

suggest you photshop your images to make sure thay are as small as possible
without loosing quaility . Importing a raw jpg or gif can be very big. You can
usually get a 300 kb image down to 30 kb. This has a big effect on the flash
movie.

That was it!!!!!
The streaming option I had it set to event!! I'm going to go back in and
reimport my images like you suggested for better performance but the streaming
option is what was killing my timing. Thank you for your help guys. It's nice
to know us flash newbie?s have a place to go.
