flash (macromedia): Hello all! I'm working on a flash video presentation and have a question. The
video was shot on greenscreen and then keyed for the alpha channel. I then
edited together a clip, added sound and imported the quicktime file into Flash
as an FLV. I am now creating a presentation of graphics, text, effects, etc.
to go along with it. I am using the template from this page.
http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/flash/articles/vidtemplate_corppreso.html

This is a great guide, and I have set up my own cue points, but dropped the
buttons and went to a straight play/pause button with a scrubber and mute
button. My problem is when I hit pause, it pauses only the .flv file, but
continues playing the effects on the slide until the end of that particular
slide. My question is, is there any way to make the Play button pause the
entire .swf as well as the .flv or am I stuck? Other question, should I have
just spent some time learning After Effects and done the entire production
there, then imported it into Flash?

Thanks to anyone who might be able to help.

if you have named all of your instances on the stage, you should be able to add
code to the "pause" btn to control the child timelines in you parent movie.

you need to tell the btn what timelines to control.

Thanks, that makes sense. I am currently using one of the default Skins
provided with the FLV Playback component, and I have just modified the graphics
a little bit, so I'm not sure where I would even change that. I might just
create new buttons from scratch so I have a little more control over it all.

Hmmm. I am still lost on this one. I took the default file listed on this
tutorial and just added an FLV Playback Skin to it so that it would have
play/pause, etc. However, the pause only pauses the video clip, not the flash
transitions, effects, etc. They play out until the end of that Slide and then
they stop.

Any way to change this without starting from scratch. I don't even know where
to add the ActionScript to tell it what timelines to control (as suggested
above). Any examples? It has some actionscript in the Controls Slide, which
tells it to use cue points, etc.

Thanks.
