flash (macromedia) : how to preload external SWF files

Hi All - I have read so many posts from so many forums about this. Seems that
most of us have wanted to do this but I still am unclear as to what the BEST
solution is.

What I want to do is simple. I have my root movie, I use this to load my
general content as external SWF's, like the nav bar and intro etc. Works just
fine because these SWF's are small.

However, the rest of my site has tons of images and video etc. so each SWF
that may or may not be called from the nav bar is huge.

I want to be able to simply have all the external SWF's loading in the
background while the visitor is checking out the home page and deciding where
to go.

Sure, not ALL of the SWF may load before the visitor browses around but at
least some of them can load.

My most simplest method thus far is to have my root movie load all the SWF's I
have from a frame onto a lower level (hidden under a graphic box cover).

By the way, from a lot of the posts I read it seems a lot of people were
confused about where these pre-loaded SWF's go. I agree and realize that they
only go into the browsers cache, which is where I want them, some folks seemed
to think there was a fancy way to load them into the flash player, I just want
to load them into the browser cache.

I use MX (not 2004) and I am limited with my actionscript.

THANK YOU.

there is no BEST, each is individual to the project.

really, that's good enough...

They actually are in the player and the cache keep them in order to run them but they
are in your player. In fact if you won't hide them, you will see them. All the time there
unless you close or unload the movie.
