flash (macromedia) : Just Audio, no Video in my FLV.

I have a Media Playback component that only plays audio for some reason. The
FLV I have linked to it has Audio and Video. When it plays I only hear audio.
This happens whether I test the movie in Flash or on the web.
Could it be because I just upgraded from MX2004 to 8 pro?
Thanks,

So what?s up folks, any ideas. Why would I get audio but no video?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I originally made the FLV file six months ago and it worked fine until several
weeks ago after I upgraded to FLASH 8.
Here's the movie if you want to see for yourself: <a target=_blank

m/blacklinemovie.flv</a>
Whether I test the movie in Flash or view it on the web, I get audio but no
video.
Thanks,

This may come as a shock, but it works for me (don't you hate that!).
I don't know if your problem is your Flash or your PC, but here are the file
working fine:

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge
href="http://www.johnkalnin.com/test/test.html">Working Video with Audio</a>

Files:
http://www.johnkalnin.com/test/test.swf
http://www.johnkalnin.com/test/test.fla
http://www.johnkalnin.com/test/blacklinemovie.flv

If you don't hear sound on the top link, then something is wrong with your PC.
Good luck tracking down the issue, since the flv has sound it must be something
with your Flash program.

Dude, thanks for taking the time to do all that. The files you posted work
perfectly, audio and video. I tried dragging your Media Player into my project
but it won't work because yours is in FP 8 and I have to publish in FP 7. So,
I'm still in the same situation. Can you go to this site and click on the
About Us page and tell me if the video plays for you?

When I go to that site, click Launch Site and then on the pop-up the About Us,
all I get is music and no video. The player says "Streaming" but there is no
time displayed and none of the controls do anything. Hmmm... what to do what to
do - are you using Flash MX 2004? I converted the version I had to Flash MX 04
and it stopped working as well. The flv may be encoded using that new Flash 8
ON2 VP6 codec. You need Flash Player 8 in order to view those types of videos.

I orginally created the swf in MX2004. I just update the site a couple weeks ago with my new Flash Pro 8. Ever since then it has stopped working. Do you think I should re-encode the FLV?

Ok, I have re-encoded the original .avi to FLV 8 and it's still not showing the
video, the audio works fine. Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?
I've tried publishing the swf in FP7 and FP8 and still nothing.
Thanks,

If the video is encoded using the On2 VP6 codec you need to publish it as Flash
8. If that is the case then re-encode the video using the sorenson codec,
which is flash 7 compatibe.

I am sorry I don't have MX 04 so I can't help you troubleshoot for it.

Ok here is what I've done.
I encoded the video using the sorenson codec and the On2 VP6.
I tried publishing both movies in FP7 and FP8 with Actionscript set to 1.0
and 2.0.
This must be a problem with the way this file was transformed from MX2004 to
Flash Pro 8. I can create new projects in both MX2004 and Flash Pro 8 with
FLV's and they work fine. Something is corrupt with this coversion.
Does anyone have a work around for this issue?
Thanks for your help.

i'm having a very similar issue....

just installed a trial version of Flash 8 pro....

encoded an avi to flash 8, then tried to view the flv locally using flash 8
player and don't see anything! shouldn't the flash 8 player work with the
flash 8 encoder??

however, if i open the flv in the riva player, i can both see and hear
everything.

something is wrong.....i also tried exporting to flv from adobe premiere pro
but it totally locks up. these are using the flash 8 encoder with the On2 vp6
codec....???
