May I ask, if you are new to flash where did you get a cpy of MX 2004? Not suggesting it is illegal
- it just isn't offerend anymore which means you may have received a corrupt copy from somewhere. Of
course it may simply have been shelved on your end during this time.
that error tells me theirs something wrong with a template - try deleting or temporarily moving that
folder to another location and see if flash triggers the error again.
I just looked on my machine and i have no "Effects" folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\chris\Local Settings\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash MX
2004\en\Configuration....

I am new to Flash, this is frustrating, I have removed and reinstalled with no
help.
Error warning appears and says:
While executing in untitled-1, the following JavaScript error(s) occurred:
At line 328 of file ?C\documents and settings\..\ Local?\App?
Data\Macromedia\Flash MX 2004\en\Config?\Effects\Uber
Template2.jsfl?:convertToSymbol: no selection
After clicking: ?OK? Error warning appears and says:
While executing in Untitled-1, the following JavaScript error(s) occurred:
Selection: Argument number 1 is in invalid.
Sorry it took so long to get back to this. I bought it on ebay about 18 mos ago
but only messed with it a little. Got frustrated with the errors and put it
aside for a while. I do html, JavaScript, some php, I thought that I was
messing up but didn?t have the time to put toward it. Started working on it
again and the errors happened in the tutorial, that is when I suspected
something other than me. Adobe says they do not give support for this type of
thing.
