The normal installation at Macromedia was doing the same thing for me but using this installer from there instead worked..
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_active_x.exe

I use a program called RegCure. Every time I run it, it deletes the Flash OCX files as unused. Could be something happening to
others too. Finally I went in and changed all the reported Flash OCX/DLL errors to 'ignore' so that won't mess me up anymore.

Seems like MM should have a troubleshooter program that evaluates your settings and files to see why Flash won't play.

I'm starting to use Opera more now. The latest version is very stable and loads much faster than IE. I'm really sick of the mess
that Microsoft products have become.. endless circles of trying to get things to work, only to have it happen all over again later.
People are abandoning IE in droves, going to FireFox (yuck) etc. because IE is such a mess.
With Opera my browser window opens the way I want it rather than opening to the dimensions of the last pop-up ad that I closed like
IE does.

I tried these fixes and still no luck with IE 6 or IE 7

I tried the installer and still doesn't work :(
