flash (macromedia):
just drag the bitmap to the stage - select it and hit Ctrl+B (break apart) - then select it with
your eye dropper - it becomes a swatch. now it can be used as a fill and it will tile depending on
size of shape you fill it with - use the gradient transform tool to manipulate it's size and
orientation.
I use this technique a lot - like here:
http://www.mudbubble.com/projects/frog_bicycle_IK.html

the frog is filled with imported bitmap textures.

Is this what you mean?

Actually just re-read your original question for the 5th time....what do you mean instead of a solid
color, gradient or bitmap? there's really nothing else you can fill with. i musst have missed the
point completely - sorry.

Hey
Is it possible to fill an object with a graphic from the library rather than a solid colour, gradient or bitmap? If so please explain ^_^
Thanks

That's not possible.
You would need to go into Edit Symbol mode, select File | Export | Export
Image, choose the bmp format,
then File | Import | Import to library

Would that symbol appear many times inside your object, or only once? If the
latter, you could probably use your object as a mask for the symbol...

Good luck

Filling an shape with a tiled symbol like flowers or something perhaps..

Make a graphic symbol with the manually tiled symbols.

Then mask it using the shape you want to fill.

On top of that place the shape as linedrawing or whatever.
